OVERVIEW

Northern Kenya is a different country to the Mara. Samburu is dry, dramatic and home to species you will not see further south: the Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich.

You then climb into the Aberdare range for a night in a tree lodge overlooking a floodlit waterhole where elephant, rhino and leopard come to drink after dark. The route back to Nairobi can include Laikipia and the Mount Kenya circuit.
